1995 Chevy Truck – How to Remove the Steering Wheel

Any vehicle is subject to wear and tear and so is any part of the vehicle. No matter how expensive and reputable it is, there is no change to this rule. The same goes for the steering wheel on the 1995 Chevy truck. The only way out of this problem is to replace the steering wheel with a new one.

Step 1: disconnect the negative terminal

First, make sure you have an open wrench handy. This would be useful to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. You will now need to locate the airbag. Let the vehicle sit for almost 30 minutes before continuing.

Step 2: remove the airbag from the steering wheel

For this step, you will need to start the truck’s engine and turn the steering wheel clockwise. Once you can locate the hole behind the steering wheel, use the screwdriver to pry the airbag out of the steering wheel.

Step 3: remove the wiring

It has only partially done its job with the airbag. Next, you need to turn the steering wheel of the 1995 Chevy truck counterclockwise. You will have to turn the wheel up to 180 degrees in the process. Now you can access the airbag and disconnect the wiring harness with ease.

Step 4: unscrew the steering wheel

The obvious next step is to unscrew the center bolt. This is in the center of the wheel. The puller should be inserted using the appropriate socket and ratchet. Tightening the nut in the center of the extractor will help us to remove the flywheel from the column.

As seen, replacing the wheel is a matter of a few minutes and will require the right tools to come to your rescue. Once done, the frustrating truck will automatically transform into a joy to drive.

Such tasks can be performed by the common man and do not require you to rely on mechanics. The 1995 Chevy truck is one of the rugged and reliable vehicles and can be returned to its true shape in just a few steps.
