Black Garden Wall Lamps – The Designer’s Choice

Black garden wall lamps, nothing special, right? Well I’m not so sure, at this year’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show one of the most popular exhibits was a garden designed around the colors black, purple and green. Plants such as ophiogon, alliums, and black tulips were planted against a background of polished black pebbles and dark-stained decks.

The garden lighting scheme, including spotlights, uplights and wall washers, was all black. The whole effect was one of understated glamour, elegance and it was very luxurious. And there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t achieve a similar effect, and with minimal expense.

As far as decking goes, ebony is probably out of the question, not only is it expensive, but it’s incredibly dense and would be hard to put a nail, screw, or indeed any tool into. However, you could choose something like oak and stain it.

Black or almost black plants include:

  • toothed ligularia
  • Lysimachia Firecracker
  • Sambucus Nigra Black Night
  • black prunus cersifera
  • Corylus maxima Purpurea
  • Heuchera Stormy Seas
  • Physocarpus opulifolius Diabolo
  • Oxalis triangularis
  • Pelagonium (crimson/black)
  • Sambucus Black Lace
  • Phormium Platts Black
  • Iris Sable Knight
  • Ophiopogon planiscapus Nigrescens
  • Pittosporum tenifolium Thumb
  • Salvia officinalis Purpurascens
  • Ipomaea Sweet Charlotte
  • -Chocolate Cosmos
  • – Red Dahlia Bishop

When it comes to garden lighting, black garden wall lights come in all styles, from distressed-finish Victorian to modern eyelid designs. Mostly colored wall lights of this type are constructed from solid aluminum and then spray painted; they are easy to maintain. To integrate wall lights into your security lighting system, it’s a fairly simple process to install a PIR sensor or photocell sensor.

Garden design is an art that must be learned, however a good basic place to start is to plan around a simple color scheme. Black garden wall lamps could form the basis of a very exciting garden design.
