Conservatory Lighting

Conservatory lighting.

While every room in your house can be described as having a color, what color is your conservatory? You may answer that it’s white or a stain color, but really, for most people, the color of your conservatory is green or the color of your garden because that’s what you can see through all the glass. . This relationship with the garden is clear and the main reason why people love to be in their conservatories during the day.

Interior lighting;
Inside your conservatory, during the day natural light will enter from outside creating a wonderful view of your garden and providing a light and airy room. At night, the situation is reversed, and interior light is reflected back onto the structure if it is dark outside. You will also notice that if you have double glazing you will actually have two reflections of light (with triple glazing you will have three). This may be a feature you can take advantage of; During the festive season, a string of lights hung from the beams will cast double or even triple reflections around the room like a fabulous starry scene.

Unfortunately, most of the time these reflections are not that dramatic. One way to overcome this problem is to properly light your garden, as I will discuss later, smart lighting within the conservatory will also minimize this light pollution. When lit like other rooms in the house, with a light hung at a high level you will be illuminating everything in the room by maximizing the amount of reflection. What is needed is low level lighting, lighting what is needed, minimizing reflections. A lighting ring can easily be used for lamps, with several points at a low level that are lit normally at the input. This provides all the benefits of low level lighting with the convenience of switched lights.

outdoor lighting;
One issue that needs to be fixed is that once it gets lighter inside the conservatory (at night) the ‘color’ of the conservatory changes as you will be looking at a reflection of yourself in the glass. The conservatory has become an introvert where it was an extrovert during the day.

The answer is to illuminate your garden at night so that it becomes lighter again and the view from the conservatory again. Having the switch for the exterior lights in the conservatory is an ideal location as you have the control where you want it. Also, look at the color of the outdoor lighting, it is better to think about what to light in January, since in July you can light anything and it will look good since everything is in full bloom and growth. January is the time when most plants are dormant, but you’ll still need to turn it on to get the most out of your greenhouse. In general, this means architectural features that remain throughout the year, such as tree trunks, walls, fountains, ponds, and hedges. It is common sense to light using a similar color so they look natural at night, like green lights for plants and blue lights for water features. A red light on a green bush at night will reflect little light and produce a dark red bush that will look different in natural light.

When you think about lighting, a conservatory can be just as impressive a place to be at night as it is during the day, and a place where you’ll spend more and more quality time as the seasons go by.
