Perfume Review – Avalon Juniper Solid Perfume by Pacifica

Thirteen years ago, in the year 1996, Brook Harvey-Taylor and Billy Taylor agreed to start Pacifica Perfume. Even in those years, the fragrance market was very competitive, so instead of launching fragrances, they created candles mixed with beautiful perfumes of their own choosing. All were made with natural essential oils. Sales soared.

In the fall of 2008, Pacifica launched its range of solid perfumes: Tibetan Mountain Temple, Spanish Amber, Mexican Cocoa, Madagascar Spice and the one I reviewed here Avalon Juniper. All are made from organic coconut and soy wax with natural and essential oils. In shorts, 100% vegan! Its small can, only the size of the cap on a Hemaviton Skin Nutrient bottle, makes it easy for the user to toss it into bags. It also fit the theme of the season: eco-friendly and airport-friendly cosmetics.

To be frank, I never knew what Juniper is, other than a flash of earthy pine scent. Also, my knowledge of where Avalon Island is is pretty low, aside from that mythical story of King Arthur’s Avalon Island. So, when finding the entry on Google.com, it was a huge surprise to find an actual town of Avalon on Catalina Island, California, along with its native California juniper plan.

IMHO, this Avalon Juniper is not extraordinary. In fact, you could easily mistake it for traditional rubbing balm. Actually, when we smelled the scent directly from its can, a freshness of grapefruit and floral heliotrope came out. A touch on the skin would melt the solid wax, leaving a slightly greasy layer scented with earthy green cinnamon and juniper. In the end, I felt like I was using balm oil. Well ..

Other than that, I admitted that there were times when I needed time to relax, staring out the window with a cup of tea, a low-key scent made for me and just for one person sitting next to me. Its spiciness brought warmth to the body and then to the heart.

Avalon Juniper sells for $ 9 a piece at Pacifica Perfume. Unfortunately, they haven’t shipped to Indonesia … yet. But, maybe eBay and Amazon could list the items. Oh, I can’t wait to buy Mediterranean Fig or Bali Lime Papaya (although surely I’d rather find papaya in Java. In Bali, the orange-lime-coconut juice drink will be more suitable).
