Spring 2013 Fashion Trends for Plus Size Women

Many of you may still be freezing from the cold weather that is still outside. You may not even want to talk about spring right now, but believe it or not, it’s just a very short time away. This is the time to start thinking about what you will wear in spring; especially if you are a full figured woman. Like everything in the world of fashion, nothing is new. Most trends are simply reinvented, repeated or reprocessed from the past. Time to get excited about the upcoming season and current trends; some of which you may already have in your closet.

Many people are already in the planning stage when it comes to their wardrobe. Spring is the time when you will be stripping off the layers of clothing you wore in the winter months to show off your body that has been hidden underneath for so long. So I encourage you to start shopping right now. You can incorporate some of these suggestions below to acquire your spring outfits.

1. The crop top
Yes, that’s what you heard. Crop tops, darling! Many people think that crop tops are only for women with a slim waist. Plus-size women with a bit of girth in the waist are not exempt. You can also wear the crop top and even surprise yourself. You better believe that and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You just have to know how to wear it. You don’t have to show your entire stomach, but you can reveal a bit of belly skin at the top of your waist and still be relaxed and confident. How? You can wear a high-waisted bottom, such as a short, a pair of pants, or a skirt. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with this. If you don’t feel comfortable this way, you can add a tank top under your crop top and call it a day.

2. All white colors
Yes, from head to toe in white. The all white look is taking its rightful place in the fashion world and designers like Vera Wang and Roberto Cavalli are adding it to their spring collection. In the recent past, we’ve seen an overload of bright neon and color-blocked styles; so much so that I think we have forgotten how nice and sharp we can look with a white outfit. Don’t think about what the critics of fashion trends think. You can also look absolutely amazing in white, even if you are plus size.

3. Sexy peplum
Straight out of the 1980s comes the peplum look. It’s been around for several months, but it fits in really well with the spring season. From peplum tops to peplum skirts, you can look fabulous. Bring out the elegance in you and for a plus size woman; Hide those curves you don’t want to see. You can wear the peplum dress in a solid color or in a colorful animal print. You have varied options because this piece will always be attractive no matter what.

4. Floral, Ruffles and Stripes
Floral designs are always going to be associated with spring. It gives you a feminine feeling and a feminine look. For the plus size woman, you can wear flowers on a pantsuit or jacket. Floral is definitely a must-have for spring. Stripes will be in style throughout 2013. You can wear stripes in dresses, rompers, tops, skirts and blazers. They help give the impression that you are trimmed and will give your body a balanced appearance. During the 1980s, it was somewhat fashionable to dress in color blocks. Well, you can bet it’s back in the fashion rotation. Dressing in color blocks will prevent someone from concentrating on just one section of your body. However, your color block outfit should depend on the type of weather you’re dealing with.

Last but not least, you should anticipate that plus size retailers will be doing too much with ruffles this spring. I personally love ruffled tops and a playful dress with a ruffled hem, so I’ll be excited to grab some new pieces at great prices. These are the trends that await you this spring 2013. With them, you will stay elegant and current.
