Upright hammock users who do not sunbathe lying down

The remarkable success of vertical loungers is due to several reasons.

First of all, its simplicity, you change, you go in, you press the start button and voila, you get a tan.

The other reasons for the popularity of the upright lounger are that they do not cause any pressure points, that is, when lying on a lounger, the area at the base of the spine does not tan due to reduced blood flow and the result net is two targets. areas!

The hygiene aspect also enters the formula for the preferential choice of the vertical lounger, since you are not lying in someone else’s sweat (even if it has been cleaned).

If a client suffers from claustrophobia, it is more pleasant to be in an upright lounger than in a lounger.

It was while I was in Germany in 1976 that I saw my first “sonnen sofa”. This was a ten tube base unit that I renamed SUNBED. I imported my first 60 hammocks and the face of the tan changed forever!

By 1979 several other companies had been created (none of which still exist) and a company whose Managing Director was a boat builder built a tube tower which was the first upright lounger ever built. Few were sold and the company disappeared in the early 1980s. The reason for its failure was that the 180cm 100 watt lamp just wasn’t strong enough.

During the 1990s, hammock production began in the US and two of the manufacturers produced a reasonably successful upright hammock that was the beginning of a change in the direction of tanning. The reflector tube, at this stage, was invented, greatly increasing the UV output.

The first Ultrasun standing upright tanning machine was made in 1993 and was made from certain parts of a best-selling Ultrasun lounger. The covers were made of steel and the chokes were attached to the covers, which made the unit very heavy. This made them difficult to install.

In 1995, due to high demand from the tanning public, and hence from leisure centers, hair and beauty salons and the new wave of tanning workshops, a more attractive and more vertical set of units was manufactured. easy to install with a resistant colored plastic.

The main reasons for the success of the stand up were hygiene (it was not necessary to clean them after each use) and space saving.

In 1997, Ultrasun bought a smaller rival Dutch lounger maker called Garda Sun. In 1998, Ultrasun went into production with the Garda Sun 7000 using a 160w 1.8 meter tube and Helionova sold over 1,000 of these units over the next two years in the UK and Ultrasun sold several thousand worldwide. .

Starting in 1998 two further developments followed, an overhead cooler was installed on the machines to increase the enjoyment of standing tanning and longer and more powerful tubes were introduced to account for the taller tanners using the machines (the average height increased by 2 “during the nineties).
