Vacuuming floors and surfaces also has to do with efficiency and energy savings. Therefore, there are basic rules about vacuuming that must be taken into account before starting a cleaning job.

In a home that collects a lot of dust and dirt, vacuuming should be the last chore. This means that all dusting, cleaning, bedding, etc. they must be completed as this allows all the dirt to settle on the floor.

Once this is done, all the mess that accumulates on the floor should be removed so that it does not accidentally jam the machine.

If the living room, the hall or the study areas have carpeting, it is best to start at the door and cover the entire room going back and forth several times, overlapping strip by strip so that all the dirt is collected. Corners need special attention, especially if they are lined with wall-to-wall carpeting. Using a combination of accessories such as the dusting brush and crevice nozzle, hard-to-reach areas can be easily cleaned.

If the room is large, it might require tedious work such as getting on your knees to reach corners; hard floors and wood floors can be particularly hard.

For rugs placed in rooms, it is essential to start vacuuming from the rug towards the ends of the fringes; the opposite process will end up sucking fabric from the fringes which can clog the motor and suction unit.

Wooden floors need careful attention because they scratch easily; the wheels or the base of the vacuum can create scratch marks, so it is necessary to clean them. Also, if there is dirt or sand on the floor, it is better to clean it with a damp cloth.

Vacuums that suddenly make strange noises in the middle of a cleaning session indicate that something has gotten stuck or blocked the brush bar that sucks up dirt. It is imperative to shut down the system and remove the offending blockage or else the engine will burn out and damage other parts as well.

Before using a vacuum cleaner, a thorough reading of the owner’s manual and an understanding of the parts and accessories is crucial not only to learn how to use it optimally, but also to get the most out of this household appliance.
