Teaching Your Child To Ride A Kids Quad
To make sure your child is safe when riding their mini quad, it is very important to teach them how to ride it correctly. Letting them ride without proper instruction can be dangerous. Your child should know that if she is not careful, it can be dangerous. But they also need to know that it’s fun. You don’t want to scare them away from driving their ATV. Taking a few simple steps can ensure your child is safe on their quad.
Before your child begins to ride, get him used to the feeling of sitting on his bike without moving. Show them all the controls and tell them what each control does. Kids can get bored very easily and often just want to start riding, so you want to make sure it’s still fun for them.
When you are sure they know all the controls and are comfortable on the bike, let them practice with the engine off first. This will get them used to sitting on their quad as it moves and will help build their confidence. Push them slowly from behind and tell them to keep their eyes straight ahead. Have them do simple tasks like breaking. They should be able to do this without looking at the controls; they should always be looking where they are going.
When you think your child is ready, practice with the engine running. Start the engine and practice again going slowly in a straight line. Walk with your child and hold the emergency switch cord in case something happens. Practice starting and stopping again.
The next step is to teach them to spin. Have them practice with the engine off first again. Have them practice turning both ways, going straight, and stopping. Then start the engine and practice again. If you have some small obstacles, place them on the ground so they can maneuver and get used to moving around things. Start with objects far apart and gradually move them closer as they feel more secure.
When teaching your kids to ride kids quads, you need to be patient. As you know, things that seem simple are often not for children. Be sure to praise them when they do well, and most importantly, make sure they have fun!
