The Many Benefits of Using Blue Polyethylene Tarps

Everyone knows what a blue tarpaulin is. They are usually available with grommets in many different sizes and are fairly inexpensive. Blue tarps have numerous uses around the workplace and around the home, in addition to hunting trips, boating, and camping. They are flexible, waterproof and lightweight. They can be used to protect various items such as designer rugs, delicate flower bulbs, motorcycles, and patio furniture.

These tarps are very lightweight and will provide great temporary protection from sun and water damage in many different conditions and circumstances. Sometimes, when painting, they will be used to protect floors and furniture. It is important for the consumer to understand the specific applications for which blue banners are designed so that they can be sure they are choosing the best banner for their needs.

Blue Tarps were not designed for long term coverage requirements. They were only designed to be used as a temporary cover. They’re certainly easy to wear and lightweight, but they won’t provide long-term protection. If there is an item that needs to be covered for more than three months, a heavy duty tarp would be a better selection. Heavy duty tarps are thicker and made with a significantly thicker fabric, making them more waterproof and durable.

The blue coating on blue tarps will begin to break down in a short time as a result of weather and exposure to sunlight. In most circumstances blue tarps will provide great short term protection, they should not be used to withstand weather, rough treatment or for protection over long periods of time.

Blue tarps should not be used to cover materials or loads that have sharp edges, such as glass, tree limbs, rocks, concrete, wire, or steel. Blue tarps are made of a material that is not designed to withstand that type of treatment. When the wind moves, the blue tarp will not hold up to sharp edges, the material will rip and tear, exposing your items to rain and sun.

Without having to build a structure, a wooden tarp will protect an item that has sharp edges. These tarps are specifically designed for use covering truck loads of lumber and over wood piles. They are made with heat treated seams and heavy gauge material and will better withstand the rough nature of the items they cover. A wood tarp will resist tears from branches and twigs to keep the wood safe and dry. Depending on the application, there are many different types of heavy duty and wood tarps to choose from.

Many people simply throw away their worn or damaged blue tarps. However, they are actually made from a woven polyethylene plastic that can be recycled in the same way that milk jugs and plastic soda bottles are recycled. Although a blue tarp is very useful, it won’t last forever.

You need to understand the limitations of a blue tarp and have a realistic expectation of what they can do to make sure your possessions are protected. However, blue poly tarp is a very inexpensive way to cover your assets for a short period of time.
