Vomiting after having Pau D’arco? A problem and a shared experience

Have you heard of pau d’arco tea? Lots of people have been using it. But, there is a case where one of my friends tried a cup today for the first time and today he became very sick (vomited). So he asked me if this kind of reaction to pau d’arco or not. He was in a car accident last week and has been out of work with some back and neck injuries, so he thinks he might have something to do with it, too.

I will try to answer the previous problem with cases and experiences that I have from a friend, Linda. She says that from a non-tea drinker, she found Pau d’arco tea to taste very pleasant. Before the tea, she had been doing other things, so that may have had an impact on how she responded.

Her naturopath never told her to take it, she did it on her own. She sometimes had the feeling that she wanted to vomit, but it was a slight sensation. Then one day, out of the clear blue sky, she had to use the bathroom very badly. After going she felt much better. This was the only time this happened while she was having tea. At her next visit to the doctor, she mentioned what had happened and was told that her system was probably “flushing.”

She is sure that she would have experienced vomiting if she had not been drinking something before using this tea. All her efforts revolved around keeping the flow coming from below and not from above. Just the thought of the possibility of what could come out of her horrified her completely.

Although I do not have such an experience, but I can say that it is very rare, if not at all, that I encountered someone who vomited with pau d’arco. Take example my friend. He hasn’t vomited after using pau d’arco, but it makes him nauseous and makes his stomach/gut “grow a lot”.

My other friend says she doesn’t vomit, but it gave her the worst extinction symptoms of any of her antifungals (caprylic acid, oregano oil, garlic, and something mysterious from her homeopath), and tends to give her a mild but persistent migraine (no nausea, strangely) the days you take it. She makes her stomach talk too! But she must confess that she likes the taste of it.
