What to do if you are terminally ill and have only months to live?

When time is short, treat yourself well.

What if you are diagnosed with a fatal condition and further tests and medical opinions clearly show that only a miracle can save you? What if you are a freethinker who embraces reason, respects evidence and science, and has no interest in miracles or other forms of the supernatural?

Assume further that you are still in relatively good physical condition, able to move around and do all or most of the things that interest you. Now what? Once the shock has passed, how could you most positively proceed to adjust to this monumental reality of a shortened future?

Consider treating yourself well, very well, in fact.

Suppose you have already made arrangements that affect your heirs, your business and other matters, your causes, and so on. The questions mostly come down to this: How can you experience the greatest happiness, joy, love, and other qualities of exuberance in the months you have left?

Consider a conscious decision to do whatever it takes to enjoy life as much and as carefree as possible. Focus on your own desires, knowing that you have dedicated a lifetime to being exceptionally considerate of those you love. Feel free to guess your choices from here on out! Go out and do what can still be done. Spend some money! Their the survivors will manage just fine. Such promises are often true: in what seems like a very short time, they do nothing of any kind, including making money!

This is your last chance to live fully, to enjoy one thing or another or many things that you may have pondered for a long time. Go ahead, indulge in potential long-overdue delights. Yes, consider, but not limited to, the financial situation of your children or grandchildren, or future children and grandchildren. Avoid any guilt about spending on yourself. You’ve been caring for your loved ones for years, and in doing so, you’ve provided an excellent head start. Your turn has finally come. He has nurtured, educated, protected and offered ample support to his descendants. It’s time to enjoy your savings: you’ve already sacrificed enough.

Wouldn’t it be strange, and a bit mental, if each generation skimped and saved, left without their children and grandchildren, who kept the cycle going to infinity, generation after generation? No one could live fully, take enough vacations, experience special things and events, or enjoy the fruits of their labor, as everyone would feel compelled, obligated, or guilty to save up for the next line of future sufferers in the bloodline.

There would be no end to the cycle of frugality and sacrifice. Pretty irrational. Break free. Time is of the essence.
