Are you a happy mom?
With days filled with diaper changes, feedings, play dates, potty training, chores, and mountains of laundry, being a happy mom is something moms rarely have time to contemplate. We surveyed a group of 50 moms and asked if they considered themselves happy. But we don’t let them respond right away. We gave them a full ten minutes to really think about it. And then when each and every mom answered “Yes, I am a happy mom!” we asked the hard question: why? We compiled your answers in a ten-question quiz to find out if you really are a happy mom …
1. Are you secretly happy to see your children get on the bus to go to school so that you can have time for yourself? But then, are you staring at them out the window and missing them in the afternoon?
2. When you walk past your child’s room at night, do you sometimes pause and can’t resist the urge to go over and watch her sleep?
3. When your child does something nice and selfless for someone else without being asked, does he silently congratulate himself for bringing a caring, compassionate person into the world?
4. Can the words “I love you, Mommy” make you forget about bills, disputes, lack of food in the house and piles of dirty laundry and fill you with a feeling of happiness?
5. Do you long to go out at night with your friends and then when you finally do, talk incessantly about your children?
6. If you travel alone and stay in a hotel, do you find the silence deafening and keep waking up wondering why they don’t ask you for a glass of water at night or help a sleepy little person use the bathroom?
7. Do more people know you now as “So-and-so Mom” than by your own first name? Do you present yourself now as “someone’s mother” and not as your own name?
8. Have you ever been honked at a red light because you started daydreaming about your child’s face?
