Is ‘Madonna Di Campiglio’ the largest ski resort in the world? Possibly

Do you like skiing? Do you like getaways to giant resorts? You like italian food? Well, I have a winter vacation idea for you! It is called La Madonna di Campiglio and it is the largest ski resort in Italy. It has more slopes, better access to those slopes, and the widest range of accommodations of any ski resort getaway in the country. And quite possibly ANY country.

One amazing thing about this complex is that they have set up a network of elevators that is almost a transit system. Instead of making you figure out which elevator will take you to the top of which tour, this system uses a gondola as the central mode of transportation, from which you can access pretty much any tour you want to try. You take the gondola from your hotel (!!) to connect with this central, then you go out at your stop, you get on the gondola that finally takes you to the top of your career and voila.

This is great for skiers who want to hit different slopes throughout the day, but also want to avoid spending hours wandering around the base of the mountain figuring out how to get to each one. With the size of this place, it would be a very long day!

Okay, let’s take a look at adaptations. Categorically, they offer hotels, inns, cabins, condominiums, chalets or apartments according to your needs and budget. You can choose to stay within the original village area or move to the uniquely developed outlying areas.

As the complex has grown, clusters of accommodations have developed to correspond to the different race classes and where they are located. If you are a beginner and plan to spend your time on the easier runs, they are on this side of the mountain, so you can choose from the lodges in that same area. If you are more advanced and want easy access to the more challenging races there, you can choose from the establishments installed near those races. And all of these areas have their own gondola service that takes you to the main system! Again, no unwanted walking.

Most of these hotels offer modern conveniences and all the luxuries you could want in the best resort getaways. But, within the different ‘zones’, some are better known than others. For easy access to expert slopes, the best rated hotels in that area are The Majestic, Hotel Milano, Hotel Cristallo, Oberosler and Savoia Palace. If you want convenient access to the easy slopes, your best hotel options are said to be Bertelli, Hotel Laura, Miramonti, Ariston, La Baita, Alpina, and Campiglio Bellavista. Both areas also have numerous condominiums, chalets, and apartments as mentioned above.

Of course, no good ski resort would overlook après-ski activities. Some of the places not to be missed are La Stalla, Bar Suisse, La Cantina del Suisse and Franz Josef’s Stube. There are also 3 nightclubs to choose from, or switch between them if you still have energy.

If skiing isn’t for you, you can also go snowboarding, mountain climbing, or sledding in designated areas for those activities. You can also take a panoramic tour of the area, they are organized regularly. One of the best-known natural landmarks is the Brenta Massif, which features outrageously colored rock outcroppings and castle-like limestone formations. There’s also Nardis, a 300-foot waterfall. These tours of Madonna di Campiglio are also available during the summer…
