Signs: you are suffering from loneliness

Everything about your family life has suddenly changed due to your breakup, you feel empty, very vulnerable and alone in the world. Time passes so slowly that it makes hours seem like days, you soak your tear-soaked pillow every night not knowing what to do next, and you don’t feel like getting out of bed and putting on a brave face the next morning.

Loneliness is one of the common emotional stages you go through after a breakup. This stage can really throw your world into what feels like a tornado going through your life, it can destroy the friendships you already have, leading to serious depression if not handled correctly.

You don’t have to go through a breakup to experience loneliness, some people feel lonely even when they are in a relationship, they feel that even though they are surrounded by other people and their partner is right next to them that no one really understands and finds them. very difficult to connect with someone.

What are some of the common signs of loneliness?
• You feel like everyone else in the world has friends and you don’t.
• When you are in a crowd you feel so disconnected from them
• You feel angry, defensive, and critical of everything
• You are convinced that something is wrong with you and everyone knows it
• You think other people don’t understand your problems because they are so unique.
• You are extremely shy in everything you do
• When you do something wrong, you are very ashamed
• Fear of talking to strangers and refusal to engage in conversation
• You feel extremely shy and afraid of others even though you know them
• Your self-esteem is very low
• Feeling anxious and sad believing that no one knows how miserable and alone you feel
• You lose your ability to be assertive and feel “invisible”
• Refuse to accept change and don’t want to try anything new
• Feeling that nothing matters in life and thinking about ending everything

Some people try to numb these feelings with excess alcohol, drugs, and mindless dating and partying which only prolongs their recovery as the pain is left unattended and will never go away until it is treated.

It is better to face your loneliness head on and accept that it is a very strong emotion that you must give time and space to run its course while you learn to work with it properly.
