The Ducati Streetfighter: the streets will never be the same
In terms of motorcycles, the recent Ducati Streetfighter, the brainchild of Ducati designer Damien Bassett, is another champion of the Bologna-based Italian company and is starting to live up to its designation. Damien spearheaded this project, came up with the idea, and came up with the Streetfighter, just over a year ago.
This streetfighter is not, despite what several critics claim, a modified 1098 bike, far from it. The streetfighter is a brand new motorcycle that does not have as many of the sections that make up the aforementioned motorcycle. Possessing the savage force of a Superbike, it has been praised by motorcycle critics as the unsurpassed bare-chassis motorcycle to hit the road to date.
At the time of publication, 2 brands of streetfighter were being sold; the most expensive type, the S version and the standard type. The S version boasts of upgrades like forged aluminum Marchesini wheels; Ohlin suspension; not forgetting Ducati Traffic Control – DTC and Ducati Data Analyzer – DDA, although as unrealistic as it sounds, despite all these included updates, it weighs just over 4 pounds less compared to the base brand.
Researchers from motorcycle magazines predict that the value of the S version will start to decline, so potential riders should be in the Ducati agent’s hold file as soon as possible.
Within the project, Damien Bassett considered the owner’s comfort, although the staunch biker zone was unseemly for urban users; formulated a responsive and restful situation, providing more legroom not to mention shorter reach to the handlebars. The thicker and more padded seat is another advantage, in addition to:
• L-twin, 4 valves per cylinder and liquid-cooled engine.
• Insatiable 155 horsepower – 114 kW at 9500 rpm.
• Steel tube lattice structure.
• 6-speed gearbox.
