Truxedo Tonneau Covers Review

Truxedo Tonneau Covers, called by some Truxedo Truck Bed Covers, are a unique line of soft tops that camouflage a truck’s storage area and seal using a unique system of industrial hook-and-loop connectors. This particular accessory serves to minimize the effects of gas-guzzling towing by instantly providing a concealed storage area within the truck bed. Although many styles of truck covers can be purchased locally or online, it appears that Truxedo Tonneau covers are available in a variety of styles, each giving the driver easy access to the truck’s storage area.

Various metal, plastic, or fiberglass truck bed covers can be raised and supported in the air using metal or fiberglass rods, similar to the poles that hold most automobile hoods up. Certain variations of covers that compete with Truxedo Tonneau covers are retractable in nature. These retractable lids feature panels that move smoothly back and forth, allowing users to load or purchase merchandise from the truck bed. Other retractable tonneau tops are made of softer, vinyl-like products and retract into a bin in case someone needs to get into the truck bed.

Truxedo Tonneau Covers reduce vehicle drag and have a direct impact by improving gas mileage. Since Truxedo pickup bed covers seal the pickup storage box, that rushing wind can’t get into the cargo area and meets no resistance at the tailgate of the pickup bed. At one point, truck drivers were given the option of replacing the truck’s basic metal tailgate with a mesh-type cloth tailgate to minimize drag effects.

While these cloth tailgate options tend to minimize wind resistance, they do not provide the same cargo security at the tailgate end of the truck as a Truxedo Tonneau cover. A cloth net is not as strong as a steel tailgate and will degrade much more easily. The nets also have a tendency to detach, letting items fly off the bed of the truck, especially if the truck is being driven at high speeds. Tailgate nets also degrade the truck’s appearance, making it appear trashy or second-rate. Truxedo truck bed covers provide more protection, while giving your truck a premium look.

Some Truxedo Tonneau Covers Include:

TruXport Roll Up Tonneau Cover – Custom made to fit your specific truck, there are no cumbersome snaps, zippers or clips, just a strong, smooth-sealing Velcro system. This top uses flat cross braces instead of arches which add to the classic flush look. Easy-to-use manual tension control keeps canvas taut in all weather

it also adds to the improvement in gas mileage. Every TruXport also features an under-canvas locking mechanism, especially effective when paired with a locking tailgate. Like other covers, the installation is 100% fixed, no drilling is required and it is covered by a five-year warranty.

Deuce Tonneau Cover – This particular Tonneau can be folded down from the front or rolled up from the back for easy access to any truck bed. It includes twin Velcro strips along the edges for a tighter seal and a heavy-duty canvas to ensure added protection from the elements. The cross supports are attached to the tarp, making it much easier to roll the entire set up into a storage position. The manufacturer claims an easy 15-20 minute installation along with a lifetime warranty. We really like this for the ease of getting things in and out of the truck bed.

Other models include the Soft Roll-Up Tonneau, Truxedo’s flagship cover; the Lo Pro QT Harley-Davidson Soft Roll-Up Tonneau features a full-size HD logo stamped into the canvas; and the TruxedoPlus Tonneau Cover with Toolbox combines the two elements into one nice looking top. This definitely adds a greater element of “usability” to an otherwise average soft Tonneau cover.

Conveying truck safety as well as good looks, Truxedo Tonneau Covers continue to be a top priority investment for many truck owners.
