Venice airport

Venice is located in Italy and has built several airports in different places. Venice Municipal Airport, also known as VNC, was built by the United States government in 1940. It was built to provide facilities for flight training during World War II. This airport was ceded to the city of Venice at the end of the war on the condition that it not be used as an airport. Should it be used as an airport, it would be repossessed by the United States government at that time.

VNC now provides general aviation facilities, which are located along the Gulf of Mexico coast. It has two tracks that cross each other. About
Nearly 2 million takeoffs and landings take place each year on VNC. VNC’s popularity has grown rapidly and there are approximately 234 aircraft based here. Approximately 80 aircraft owners are on the waiting list for the hangar space. This airport contributes almost $22 million to the economy of Venice.

Another famous and popular airport in Venice is the VCE or Venice Marco Polo Airport. VCE is the closest to the city of Venice. All flights connecting European destinations depart from this airport. Travelers landing at Marco Polo Airport can easily travel to Verona, Dolomite, and the Bologna mountains, which surround Italy’s northeastern region. The VCE terminal building is specially designed to accommodate approximately 6.5 million passengers each year. They offer services such as duty free shopping, banking services, guest lounges, restaurants, information desk, car rental services and many other facilities.

There are several airports in Venice, which have hotels nearby. Travelers, who do not wish to stay far from the airports, can avail the facilities provided at the airport hotels. It is very difficult to get a room in airport hotels during high season unless you make a reservation in advance.

Information on most of the major airports in Venice can be obtained from the Internet. Airline tickets can be booked along with airport hotel reservations over the Internet.
