What Causes Dull, Undernourished Skin?

There are many causes of dull and undernourished skin. Both men and women are likely to have facial skin problems. Men seem to have more of them. This is why.

The main cause of a dull appearance is excessive dryness. Sebum helps retain moisture in skin cells, but people remove it every day.

Men don’t just wash it, they scrape it off with their razors. They allow the wind and sunlight to dry it out. They follow the advice of television commercials and use the harshest soaps to wash their face and body. It’s a wonder they have some sebum left.

Sebum is produced by the sebaceous glands of the skin. It is mainly made up of fatty acids.

When a person has an oily complexion, which many men naturally have, they worry about pimples and looking too shiny. Women can use face powder to reduce shine. Men often use harsh cleansers or astringent to dry shine.

Interestingly, drying the sebum off the skin tends to stimulate the skin’s oil glands to produce more. Ideally, there would be some kind of balance.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is another component of the body that helps maintain the skin’s hydration balance. Research has shown that the hyaluronic acid content of the skin decreases with age. That’s one of the reasons older people tend to have dull, undernourished skin, while younger people have a soft glow.

Nutrition – Daily diet

Then there is the issue of nutrition. No matter how hard we try, most of us have flaws in our daily diet. We don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, we don’t get enough antioxidants, and we don’t eat enough protein. It depends on the man, of course, but I know a lot of guys who never eat anything green.

Not only are our diets involved, there is the problem of how the outer layers of the skin receive nutrition. Most parts of the body receive nutrients through the bloodstream. There is no blood supply to the outermost layers of the skin. They receive their nutrients through osmosis.

The sebum and hyaluronic acid help bring nutrients to the surface of the skin. Perspiration

carries moisture and trace elements to help provide nutrition. We wash all these things.

This is not an unsanitary item. Good hygiene is important for good health. It has more to do with the cleaners that people choose to use.

Dermatologists see more facial skin problems caused by excessive cleaning than anything else. The main reason for this is a public error.

Excess cleaning

Many people still believe that acne and oil are signs of poor hygiene. Excessive cleaning actually makes acne worse by causing irritation and inflammation.

Many people still believe that blackheads are dirt. They are actually made up of sebum particles and dead skin cells that turn black due to oxidation. Cosmetics companies help perpetrate the myths by recommending the daily use of scrubs and scrubs.

There are good mild cleansers and other solutions to the problem. You will learn more about solutions for undernourished and dull skin in my next article.
