Browns running, Reuben Droughns, no longer running from the law

Cleveland Browns running back Reuben Droughns has had his ups and downs; Unfortunately, his lows have weighed much more than his highs of late. On November 1, he was charged with DUI and traveling at speeds of 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. In fact, Droughns was acquitted of the charges, but is back on the bench. This time, he has moved his field to domestic violence.

Droughns’s latest escapade dragged on, as he was no longer in place when the bailiffs arrived. However, Droughns turned himself in to authorities Wednesday night and spent a night in jail awaiting a court hearing the following Thursday morning. There has been no press release on the true nature of the charge nor has there been a statement on the possible outcome.

It is known that he was charged with assault and stalking in the third degree, which is only a misdemeanor. Surrender may after open communication between the Sheriff’s Department and Droughns’ agent. The whole matter was handled in a professional and calm manner.

Droughns was traded in 2005 from the Denver Broncos to the Browns. He recently signed a three-year extension to his contract. Last season he had two touchdowns and rushed for 1,232 yards on 309 carries. There have been no statements from the Browns regarding the case, and this is not believed to impede his season with the Browns.
