Many online companies offer up to 250 free business cards that you can design yourself. My favorite is Home Business Center. You can design your personal massage therapy cards using any of their 42 card templates to deliver your message and contact information. Keep your business cards with you and hand them out to potential customers. Listen to what is being said around you in conversation. For example, when someone complains of a sore back or a stressful week, suggest a massage and hand them your card. Also, ask your friends and family to give a few to coworkers who might be interested in an at-home massage.

Local directories and online home business directories

Submit your business information to local directories. Even if you don’t have a website for your home massage therapy business, your services will show up in local search results. The top three directories or search engines for local maps to submit are Google Local Business Center, Yahoo! Bing local and local listing center. Add contact information, specialized services, photos and available hours. Also, submit your massage business to local business directories in your area.

Take part in Raffles ticket draws in your area

Find local events in your area and donate a free massage to the community raffle. It’s free advertising for your home massage business and if the raffle winner enjoys their massage (and I’m sure they will), they’ll get a client and referrals from their network of friends.

Create seasonal classified ads to market special offers or gift certificates for holidays like Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Submit your ad to Craigslist.org and other local classified listings.

Once your in-home massage business starts to take off, you can ask your clients to submit reviews to your local business listings with the incentive of receiving a discount on their next massage. In addition, you can increase your clientele by offering discounts when you refer 5 friends.
